    Elisabeth von Krogh has won distinction as an artist through her colorful ceramic vessels. These can be experienced in several public places and institutions in Norway, among others, in a government building in Oslo, at the University of Bergen and at Oslo Airport. In her work process, she emphasises traditional craft at the same time as referencing the history of Modernism in design, sculpture and painting.

  • From Function to Fine Art
    Elisabeth von Krogh had her breakthrough as a ceramic artist at the same time as Post-Modernism gained a strong foothold in Norway. This was no coincidence. For ceramics, Post-Modernism led to liberation. Much of what Modernists had looked on with scepticism finally became appreciated: strong colours, decoration, style quotations and, not least, humour. These have all been characteristics of Elisabeth von Krogh’s ceramic works since the early 1980s.

    Elisabeth von Krogh’s solo exhibition at the gallery Kunstnerforbundet in Oslo in 1994 was a phenomenal success. All of Norway’s museums for decorative art and design as well as the government agency Arts Council Norway bought works from the show. Even though the exhibited works of art related to her earlier production, they also represented something fundamentally new and exciting.
